Help us transform Zimbabwe’s troubles into a bright future for its beautiful people in need.
Many agree that Zimbabwe is the most beautiful country in all of Africa. With Victoria Falls, one of the great natural wonders of the world, vast lush rain forests, and verdant plains, Zimbabwe is truly a place of natural beauty. And there may be no other country in all of Africa so well suited for agriculture of all kinds, with natural rainfall sufficient for vast unirrigated fertile farmlands. But the greatest of Zimbabwe’s assets is her inspired and spiritual people.
This video is a short summary of a full documentary about Father Mejia.
When Father Mejia learned the Transcendental Meditation technique he immediately knew that this could be the key to helping the abandoned children on Colombia’s street. He took the training to become a TM teacher and opened a shelter for the thousands of children who had lost their parents and family in the drug wars, or ended up on the street for other reasons, without hope, without future.
Today Father Gabriel Mejia runs 52 such shelter, taking care of 3500 children. Thanks to his love and care many tens of thousands of street children found a way to deal with their traumas of the past and get a fresh new start. Shelters in all of Latin America are now starting to use his programs, with TM at the heart.
The generally accepted wisdom about meditation was that it was a way for the mind to come to inner silence and that this was achieved by forcing the mind to rest, usually through a form of concentration on a word, a sound, or a visual point, or through visualisation techniques. The mind soon gets bored with this and will want to go somewhere else, but we will tell it: “no, stay here, stay focused”.

TM is a simple mental technique with profound physical effects!
Our body has far more power to heal itself than we know. The experience of transcending creates the ideal condition to activate the body’s innate healing power. Fortunately this is a lot easier than previously thought, as confirmed by 600 scientific research studies, 6 million people practicing TM worldwide and over 100 thousand in South Africa and we are now bringing it to Zimbabwe. Already hundreds of Zimbabweans are practicing the technique. It only requires the right technique and proper training.
True meditation is easy. Anyone can learn it, it’s enjoyable, natural and very effective. Most people think that meditation involves some kind of mind control, forcing the mind to be quiet through some kind of concentration (on the breath, a sound, or “being in the now”). Concentration goes against the nature of the mind and is hardly enjoyable. TM, however, is extremely easy and pleasant.
